Publish later, password-protect a page, share a preview

Last updated 21 October 2026

Everything here is in the website editor, either in the Publish dialog or in a page's Settings.

Publish later

In the Publish dialog, under Publish later, pick a date and time. At that time the page goes live as it is then, so you can keep editing until the moment it publishes. Cancel it from the same place. If something stops it publishing, you get a notification.

Password-protect a page

In the page's Settings, type a Password and save, then publish. Visitors see a password box and nothing of the page until they type it; after that the page stays open in their browser for a week. Type a new password to change it (everyone has to enter the new one), or tick Remove the password. Password pages are left out of your sitemap and hidden from search engines.

Share a preview

In the Publish dialog, under Share a preview, choose how long the link should work and press Make a link. Anyone with it sees the site as it is in the editor, without signing in, and can click through its pages. It stops working when it expires or when you press Turn off, and you can see how many times each link was opened.

The checks before publishing

The Publish dialog warns you about images with no alt text (screen readers skip them and search engines can't read them) and about links to pages your site doesn't have. They are warnings: you can still publish. Links to other websites aren't checked.

Share images and search engines

When a page has no share image of its own (page Settings ▸ SEO), Solstral makes one from the page title in your site's colours, so links posted on social media show a card. Every site on its own domain also has a sitemap.xml and a robots.txt for search engines.
