Machine opens, and send-time optimisation that proves itself

Last updated 14 October 2026

1. Machine opens

Apple Mail Privacy Protection and some email providers' image proxies fetch every image as a message is delivered, so they look like opens when nobody has read anything. Solstral recognises them and shows them as Machine opens only on a campaign report. They never count as opens: not in the open rate, not for an opened flow, not for didn't open follow-ups. Clicks and replies are the signals to trust.

2. Send-time optimisation

Send at each contact's best time learns each person's hour from their opens and clicks (never machine opens), and never lands in your contact policy's quiet hours.

3. Proving it helps

In Settings ▸ Email ▸ Marketing, start Measure send-time optimisation. A share of people get campaigns at the usual time instead. Once the people who got their best hour open or click measurably more, new campaigns start with it switched on, and the campaign editor says why.
