Verify that a contact's email address is real

Verification proves an email address is real, belongs to the person who gave it to you, and is receiving mail. Solstral emails the address a link. The link opens a page with a button, and the address is verified once the person presses it. Opening the email or the link alone never counts, because email security scanners open links before people do.

Verification belongs to the address

An address is verified once, for the whole workspace. Every record holding it shows as verified, whichever object it is on. If someone's email changes, the new address starts unverified. Verification doesn't expire, but if email to a verified address later bounces as undeliverable, it shows Bounced since verifying instead.

Send a verification email

  • From a record: under each email field there is a status and a Send verification (or Resend verification) link.
  • From a form: open an email field's settings and tick Send a verification email. It is off until you switch it on.
  • From a flow: add a Send verification email step. It uses the record's email address, or one you map (for example a form's email answer). Follow it with Wait for verification, which waits up to the number of days you choose and continues down Verified or Not verified.
  • In any email: the Verify email link merge tag adds a working verification link for each recipient.

Use it

Email is verified and Email verified (date) are available wherever you build conditions: dynamic lists and segments, campaign audiences, flow branches, goals and dynamic blocks. To mail only verified people, add the condition to a segment. The Email verified flow trigger runs when someone confirms.

Change the email and the page

In Settings ▸ Email ▸ Verification you can change the default email's words, the confirm page and its success message, send people to a page of your own after they confirm, and set how long a link works. A flow step can send one of your templates instead of the default email, as long as it contains the Verify email link merge tag.
