Let the AI fill a field

Last updated 16 October 2026

An AI field is an ordinary field (text, a number, a date, a checkbox, a dropdown or a link) whose value the AI works out for you: Industry, ICP fit, Uses a competitor. Views, filters, lists, flows and reports use it like any other field.

1. Make one

An admin opens Settings, Objects & fields, picks the object and adds a field (or edits one) and ticks The AI fills this field. Say what it should work out in plain words, then what it may read: other fields on the record, the names of linked records, recent emails, meetings and notes, and the company's website. Sensitive fields are never read.

2. Suggest it or fill it in

With Suggest it, the answer waits beside the field until someone presses Use it or Dismiss. With Fill it in, it is written straight away. Either way a value someone typed is never replaced, and a dropdown only ever gets one of its own options.

3. When it runs

For every new record, and again whenever what it reads changes. Choose Check again to also look again every week, month or quarter. Records that were there before are filled only when you press Fill this column in the field's settings, which says how many records and how many AI credits first.

Cost

One AI credit a record, three when it reads the website for the first time. Automatic runs also stay inside the day's budget for AI fields (Settings, AI assistant, Daily AI budgets).

Where a value came from

Press the ✦ beside the value, on the record or in the table: the reason in one line, what it read, the model and when.
