The email builder: edit on mobile, and a toolbar that does what it looks like
Mobile is now a view you can edit in, not just a preview.
Mobile is now a view you can edit in, not just a preview. The top-right switch used to run two separate ideas together - the width you are working at, and whether you were looking at the finished email - so the width most of your recipients actually read at was the one width you could not touch. You built at full width and hoped. Desktop and Mobile now choose the canvas width and both are fully editable; Preview is its own button and compiles the real email at whichever width you have selected. Multi-column rows stack on the mobile canvas, because that is what they do in the delivered email.
The formatting toolbar works from a selection now. Bold and italic behaved as long as your cursor was still in the block; the list and clear-formatting buttons looked identical and did nothing, because by the time you clicked them there was no selection left to act on. The builder now remembers the last text you selected and puts it back before the command runs - and the buttons grey out, with the reason in the tooltip, when there is nothing to act on. A link you add is also visibly a link: coloured and underlined on the canvas, as are bulleted and numbered lists, which previously applied correctly and looked like plain text.
Padding is per side. One horizontal value could not express an image bleeding to one edge, or text indented on one side only. Top, right, bottom and left are set separately on every block type. Text and heading blocks also gained justified alignment. Nothing built before this shifts.
A blank campaign opens on a starter layout - image, heading, paragraph, footer - so you begin by typing rather than by arranging, and the compliance footer is there rather than remembered. Every block is ordinary: move it, restyle it, delete it.
Also: dragging a populated columns block no longer flickers, the toolbar on a block inside a column stops overlapping its neighbours, Templates moved next to the test-send bar where it belongs, and the campaign list gained a send-date filter - upcoming, the last 7/30/90 days, or a range - which drives the calendar view too.
