Segments on what people did, kept live

Last updated 14 October 2026

A dynamic list can include people by what they did, not only by what their record says, and it can keep itself up to date so a flow starts the moment someone qualifies.

1. Add a condition on something they did

Open a dynamic list in Marketing ▸ Lists (or a campaign's audience, or a flow's conditions), add a condition and choose Something they did…. Then pick:

  • The event: an order paid, placed or refunded, a subscription started, an email clicked, a meeting booked or held, a logged call, a stage move, or one of your own tracked events.
  • How many times: at least, at most, exactly, or never.
  • A window: in the last so many days (today counts as the first). Leave it blank to use all the history kept.
  • Only when (optional): a detail of the event, such as an order's total over 10000 (totals are in cents) or a currency of aud.

For example: Order paid at least 2 times in the last 60 days and Email clicked never in the last 30 days finds good customers who have gone quiet.

2. Keep it live

Tick Keep live on the list. From then on it notices the moment someone starts or stops matching: an order arriving, a change to their record, or simply time passing (an order from 61 days ago no longer counts). Changes from events and edits land within about a minute; changes from time passing within about ten. The people already in the list when you tick it, or when you change its conditions, are its starting members and don't count as joining.

3. Start a flow when someone joins

Create a flow with the trigger Joins or leaves a segment, choose the live list and whether joining or leaving starts it. Each person who joins starts their own run, with their record and the list's name available to every step.

A workspace can keep up to 20 lists live. Turning Keep live off forgets the membership; turning it back on starts again quietly.

Segments What's Next suggests

When What's Next spots a pattern in your orders, such as customers who buy one product going on to buy another, or a product people buy again every few weeks, its Build the segment button creates a live segment like the ones above for you, after you approve the plan. It uses the includes condition on an order's items, which matches a product by its exact name.
