Metric fields: counts and totals from what people did

Last updated 14 October 2026

A metric field is worked out from the events on each record: how many orders they paid in the last 90 days, the total they have paid, when they last clicked an email. You choose what to work out once, and every record shows its own answer.

1. Add the field

Go to Settings ▸ Fields, open the object (usually Contacts), and under Add a field give it a name and choose Metric (from events).

2. Say what to work out

  • Number of: how many times the event happened.
  • Total of, Smallest, Largest: of a number on the event, such as an order's total. Tick It's money in cents for order totals, which are stored in cents.
  • First and Most recent: when it first or last happened, or the value of a property then (the plan someone started on).

3. Choose the event

Orders and subscriptions (from your connected Stripe or Shopify and your Solstral store), email clicks, meetings, logged activity, stage moves, and the events your own systems send.

4. A window, and conditions

Type a number of days to count only the last so many days (today counts as the first). Leave it blank to use all the history kept. Only when narrows it down: only orders whose currency is aud, only totals of at least 5000.

How it stays right

Each record's metric updates within about a minute of a new event. Events about someone not yet in the CRM count as soon as they are added or identified, and merging two records adds their events together. A metric is worked out, so it can't be typed into or imported; it can be used in formulas (a score or a tier), shown in lists and filtered on the records page.

How far back a metric can look depends on your plan's event history. Counts and dates use the whole history; totals and conditions use the part whose details are still kept.
