Images in received email, and the sender's tracking

Last updated 16 October 2026

Many emails carry a tiny, invisible image. When it loads, the sender learns that the email was opened, when, and from what kind of device and network. In Solstral that image never loads from your browser.

What happens

Every image in an email someone sends you, on a record's timeline or in the Inbox, is fetched by Solstral's servers and passed on to you. The sender sees our servers, not your address, your mail app or your location. Images look the same as before.

Ask before showing images

An admin can go further in Settings ▸ Email ▸ Inboxes ▸ Images in received email and choose Ask first. Images then stay hidden, and nothing is fetched at all, until someone presses Show images above the email. That's a choice for each email, each time.

Links aren't affected: a link in an email is only followed when someone clicks it.
