Design an email in the builder

Last updated 3 August 2026

The email builder has three panes: the block palette on the left, the canvas in the middle, and settings for whatever you've selected on the right. Click a block in the palette to add it to the end of the email, or drag it onto the canvas to place it exactly where you want.

Dragging blocks

Drop anywhere over the canvas — you don't need to hit a thin line. Drop onto an existing block to place your new block at that position, or into empty space at the bottom to append.

Columns

The palette has separate 2 columns, 3 columns and 4 columns blocks, so you pick the layout as you drop it. Drag any block straight into a column, drag blocks between columns, and drag them back out to the main body — dropping into a column's empty space adds to the end, dropping onto a block inside it places it there. Columns can't be nested inside other columns, which keeps the email reliable across mail clients.

Images

Select an image block and either Upload a file or pick one from your Content Library, browsing by folder. Anything you upload here is saved to the Content Library automatically, so it's available in your other emails and on your website. Use Replace to swap the picture and Remove to clear it.

Personalization

Put your cursor in any text and use the + Dynamic tag menu above the canvas to insert a merge tag — your audience's own fields plus system tags like the unsubscribe link.

Checking your work

Switch between Edit, Preview and Mobile at the top right. Preview and Mobile compile the real email that recipients receive, so what you see is what sends. On mobile, multi-column rows stack full-width and images shrink to fit the screen automatically.

Your work saves as you go, including the moment before you navigate away — there's no Save button to remember.
