Parent companies and subsidiaries

Last updated 15 October 2026

A company can have a parent company and any number of subsidiaries. New workspaces have this on Companies already, as the Parent company and Subsidiaries fields.

Turning it on

For an older workspace or another record type, go to Settings ▸ Objects & fields, open the record type, and use the Hierarchy box. Pick an existing link between records of that type or let Solstral make one. Turning it off later keeps every link.

On the record

The Hierarchy card shows the companies above this one, the tree below it three levels deep, and the contacts and deals linked anywhere across the group. You only see records you could open anyway.

No loops

A company can't become its own grandparent. Setting a parent that would close a circle is refused with a sentence saying why, and the company keeps the parent it had.

Adding up across the group

A rollup field can count across every level: "open deal value across every subsidiary". When you add a rollup over the Subsidiaries link, choose to include the whole group.
