Call from a record: your phone rings, then theirs
Last updated 16 October 2026
Calls are a bridge, not a phone in your browser. When you press Call, Solstral rings your phone; answer it, hear who you are calling, and the contact is rung from the workspace number, which is the number they see. It works from any phone, on the move, with no app or headset.
1. Get a number
An admin asks for one in Settings ▸ Calling (Australia, the United Kingdom or the United States for now). We set it up and it appears there, ready. Calls go to numbers in the same country as the workspace number, and premium-rate and directory numbers can't be called.
2. Add your phone
On your Profile, under My phone for calls, enter the phone your calls should ring first, with its country code.
3. Call
On a record, press the phone icon beside a phone number, check what will happen, and press Call. On a call task, press Call on the task. The panel follows the call: ringing you, ringing them, connected. End it from your phone or with End call.
On the timeline
Every call that reaches someone lands on the record's timeline with its length. Set how it went with one click: Connected, No answer, Voicemail or Wrong number. If your phone never answers, nobody else is rung and nothing is logged.
Recording
With Record calls on, the contact hears "This call is recorded" before anything is recorded. The recording goes through the notetaker: the transcript is stored encrypted, the notes go on the call's timeline entry and can update the deal (see Conversations update the deal), and the audio is deleted once it is read. A call is recorded only when the person on it has the notetaker on and minutes are left. Recording law differs by place: in some, everyone must agree first.
Incoming calls and voicemail
Calls to the workspace number ring the person chosen for it in Settings ▸ Calling, showing the caller's number. If they don't answer, or nobody is chosen, the caller hears the greeting and can leave a message of up to two minutes. The message is transcribed into the Inbox ▸ Voicemail view and onto the caller's record, and the person it rang is notified. Answer a voicemail by calling back from the record.
Do not call
A number on the workspace's do-not-call list can't be called by anyone. Anyone who can call may add a number in Settings ▸ Calling; only an admin takes one off. In the UK, unsolicited sales calls must be screened against the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) first. Solstral doesn't check the TPS for you: screen your lists and add those numbers to the do-not-call list.
Minutes
Calls count against your plan's monthly call minutes (a minute started counts as a minute). A call past the allowance is ended. Agents and flows can create call tasks; only a person places a call.
