Use What's Next to decide what to do today
Last updated 8 October 2026
What's Next is a short, ranked list on Home of the few things most worth doing today. Rules find the candidates, the assistant reads each one in context, and every suggestion comes with a button that does it. Nothing in your CRM changes until you approve it.
1. Turn it on
What's Next is off by default. An admin opens Settings ▸ AI assistant ▸ What's Next and switches it on for the workspace. A few minutes later, Home shows the list for everyone in the workspace. A second switch, Let the assistant read each suggestion in context, is on unless you turn it off; with it off, suggestions come from the rules alone.
2. Read the list
Each morning at 5am in your workspace's timezone, What's Next looks for these:
- Deals that have gone quiet: no contact and no stage move for longer than your team's own rhythm. Once a pipeline has enough won deals, What's Next learns how long the deals you win usually go without contact, and uses that. Until then it uses 21 days.
- New leads nobody has followed up: leads from forms or chat that nobody has emailed, called or set a task for within 48 hours.
- Goals that are behind pace.
- Past customers who have gone quiet: won 180 or more days ago, with no contact for 120 days or more, and still able to be emailed.
- Meetings nobody followed up: a meeting that ended in the last fortnight with no email, call, task or later meeting since. This goes to the person who hosted it.
- Deals past their close date: still open, with a close date that has passed. Solstral uses a date field named for closing or winning, and says which one.
- People who just clicked: anyone who clicked a campaign email this week and hasn't been contacted since.
Meetings, leads and clicks from your own team, meaning a member's own address or an address at one of your sending domains, are never suggested.
3. See what the assistant made of each one
Before anything is counted, the assistant reads each candidate the way a good sales manager would: the meeting and the answers given when it was booked, the last few notes, emails and calls on the record and on the deal it belongs to, and whether they are already a customer. Then it either keeps it or sets it aside.
- Kept: under the suggestion, The assistant's picks show the record, the specific next step (for example Send the proposal she asked for on the call) and why. The ones marked Today come first. Where an email is the right move, Review draft opens a draft you can change and send. It is only sent when you press Send.
- Set aside: a routine call with an existing customer, a supplier using your contact form, or something already handled by phone. The assistant only sets one aside when it is sure, and always says why. Show me lists them under Set aside, and Bring it back puts any of them back on your list.
The assistant only reads what is new or has changed, and a set-aside record comes back for another look by itself as soon as something new happens on it, such as a reply.
4. Tell it when something isn't needed
Next to each of the assistant's picks, Not needed takes one click for the common reasons, or Something else… for your own words, such as onboarding calls never need a sales follow-up. The assistant remembers what your team says and uses it when it reads suggestions like it. The same menu can stop suggesting a whole booking page, everyone at a company, or one record. If you say the same about one booking page twice, it offers to stop suggesting it. An admin's choice applies to everyone; a member's applies to their own suggestions. Admins can see and remove these under Settings ▸ AI assistant ▸ What's Next.
5. Set a goal in plain words
Type a goal the way you would say it, for example Book 30 meetings this quarter or Win 50,000 in new business this quarter. Solstral works out how to measure it from your workspace's own data and shows you exactly how it will be counted. Check that, then press Set goal. Nothing is saved before you do. The result is an ordinary goal, so you can change it later under Reporting ▸ Goals, and What's Next will tell you when it falls behind.
6. Use Do it
What Do it does depends on the suggestion:
- Your own quiet deals, new leads, meetings, overdue deals or recent clicks: it builds a plan of tasks, one per record and up to 25 at a time, and shows it on a card. Where the assistant has read the record, the task is the assistant's next step, with the reasoning and the draft in its notes. Nothing is created until you press Build it. If you close the card instead, the suggestion goes straight back on the list.
- Everything else: it opens the assistant with a prompt ready to go, for example to draft emails to past customers or plan how to catch up on a goal. The assistant drafts and plans, but never sends, schedules or publishes anything without asking you first.
7. Use Show me
Show me lists the actual records behind a suggestion's number, with what the assistant suggests for each and what it set aside. The list is checked again at the moment you open it, so it reflects what is true now rather than at 5am, and it only includes records you are allowed to see.
8. Snooze or dismiss
If a suggestion isn't for today, snooze it and it comes back later. If it isn't useful at all, dismiss it. A dismissed suggestion only returns if it gets clearly worse: its severity rises, or the number of records behind it grows by half.
How suggestions are ordered
Suggestions are ranked by how serious they are, the money or number at stake, how urgent they are, how many the assistant marked for today, and whether they move a goal that is behind. What has worked in your own workspace before nudges the order. Other customers' data is never used. Each suggestion has a one-line reason in plain English, written by AI and checked so it can't invent numbers.
What members and admins see
Members see suggestions about their own records. Admins see those too, plus team-level suggestions such as a workspace goal falling behind. Suggestions about a module someone can't open are hidden from them, and the assistant's picks only ever show records you can open.
Recently done
After you act on a suggestion, What's Next keeps an eye on the records it touched and records what happened, such as replies, meetings booked and deals won, under Recently done. Above that list, a one-line summary says what acting on suggestions led to over the last 30 days. It says what happened afterwards, not that the follow-up caused it.
Your data and the AI
To read a suggestion in context, the assistant sends what it reads (meeting details, booking answers, notes and recent emails on that record) to the same AI provider the assistant uses. Email addresses are reduced to the company domain and phone numbers are left out. Each suggestion the assistant reads uses one AI credit, and it reads at most 30 new or changed suggestions a day. If your workspace has no AI credits left, suggestions come from the rules alone until it does. It never sends anything. Switch it off in Settings ▸ AI assistant ▸ What's Next.
